Christmas crackers are small tubular packages that contain
a small hat and a prize. They are common in Britain, and probably many
other places as well. When you pull the ends, a small pyrotechnic
device makes a cracking sound, and the tube opens up to
reveal your prize and the hat. In this picture, Philip is wearing his
